obama, the obama campaign was running ads on that. how romney wants to cut the taxes as romney explained very clearly in the debate the other night, no, i am not cutting taxes on the richest. what i want to do is lower rates overall by 20%. and eliminate loopholes, deductions, exemptions, that sort of thing. which i think all serious people who look at the tax code think needs to be done. it's the richest of all by the way who take the most advantage of tax deductions. that is a fairer way of looking at t maybe if you have a lot of deductions you don't want to get rid of them. but you always feel like with reductions, somebody else is getting a better deal than you are. mitt romney hasn't specified which deductions. i can think of a few we should get rid of like deductions for state and local taxes. why should the rest of the country be supporting the high tax rates of california and new york? but anyway, that's my position, not mitt romney's and he also explained in the debate, this is my general proposal. we'll argue about it. we'll

obama seemed pretty flat. watching the post-debate and some this morning, the romney performance went from here to here in the analysis. as someone who, if you want to or not, pushed back a little bit -- push back a little bit but keep in mind x. tell us how well the president did. >> or try to avoid it. >> first, i would like to thank charlie and the "national journal" for this event. i think both glen and i would agree, charlie is someone that both of us can trust because he plays it right down the line. >> i am also thin and handsome. >> i have to deal with the reality. [laughter] i like what glenn said. -- what glen said. the issue for governor romney was likability. i do not think he has -- i do not think he has had a lot of time to show likability. what he did last night was a single-minded focus on what his strength is and what the concern of the country is. i think he did his job. for all of us in this room who are probably not undecided, i think the campaign kickoff, i do not know, 2009. for a lot of

president obama put forward a jobs bill. the first jobs bill would have supported 22,000 jobs here in the commonwealth. senator brown voted in lockstep with every other republican, no. and we did not get the jobs bill. a few weeks later, there was a jobs bill to prevent the layoffs of teachers and firefighters of police officers all across this commonwealth and this country. senator brown voted in lockstep with the republicans and voted no. we did not fit that bill through. >> if i could respond. >> third, there was a third jobs bill. would have supported 11,000 jobs, mostly in construction to repair transportation that we needed it and as senator brown voted in lockstep with all the other republicans and it just to put icing on the cake, he voted against unemployment insurance extension 16 times for people who were out of work. senator brown has made clear where he stands.
